Staff Sergeant Ronald S. Gaffney served with Detachment B-52, Project Delta, 5th Special Forces Group. He gave his life in service to his country while serving with one of the most elite and secretive units of the Vietnam War.

Project Delta's reconnaissance teams operated deep in enemy-held territory, conducting some of the most hazardous missions of the conflict. The men who volunteered for these patrols accepted extraordinary risk every time they went into the field.
