The recon team with Russ Bott and Willie Stark was overrun in Laos on 2 December 66 and both were listed as MIA which was later changed to KIA. Russ Bott was awarded the DCS for his actions on 2 Dec. 66. Willie Stark was badly wounded and Russ would not leave him.
